Fitness is and was always a big part of my life. I wouldn’t say I’m the fittest and I don’t eat healthy always, but I’m always trying to find the balance between taking care of my body and enjoying the perks of life.

I did Karate for 12 years and I was used to train my body on a regular basis. Once I quit Karate, I had to fill the gap and I was looking for alternatives. That’s how I came up with the idea of writing workout reviews as I want to share my experience with you guys. And I definitely got inspired by my friend Lunden to try more new things because there are more fun things than the treadmill 😛
MANDUU – THE 15 MINUTES WORKOUT
My first posting is dedicated to a 15-minutes-workout at the new manduu store in Miami. Their aim is to shape your body and boost your metabolism by stimulating your muscles with electro impulses during your personal training session.
The brand itself is very well know in Europe and has over 60 stores. Due to higher demand of shorter and more effective workouts they expanded to the U.S. and opened their first stores in the Santa Monica (CA) and Miami (FL).
It’s more than just to “get moving” – it’s a whole lifestyle workout which focuses on:
- Muscle development
- Nutrion and
- Well Being
Reason enough to give it a try so enough talking – let’s get started with my first workout 💪💪💪
I’m very cautious before dedicating myself to something (as probably 99% of people are :p). In German we would say “Ich kaufe doch nicht die Katze im Sack” which means “I’m not buying the cat in the bag without knowing what’s inside” (yep, German idioms are awkward when translated). So I set up my first appointment to test it out. You should plan in 1 hour for your first visit as your personal trainer has to evaluate your current status, go through all the details and introduce you to the set-up and equipment.
Now this is the time to face reality: at the first appointment they are doing a very detailed Body-Composition-Analysis by measuring weight, muscle volume, body-fat-percentage and all other body-relevant details. The results are there within a few seconds and the trainer explains the analysis and gives you advise how to improve your results.
THE WORKOUT ITSELF
Here is one important thing to know: during your workout you are wearing a special outfit which is provided by manduu and consists of pants, shirt and a suit which reminds me of a scuba diving jacket. It transmits the electro impulses to your muscles.
Once you are all set-up, the trainer shows you slowly how the electrodes stimulate your muscles. Don’t worry – it doesn’t hurt at all. It feels more like someone tickles you or you are getting a massage by a massage-chair.
As mentioned, the workout takes only 15 minutes and is based on a body-weight-workout. In addition to that, you get “Smoveys” which is basically a tool to activate more muscles and to make the workout harder.
15 minutes may sound like “little” time effort but the high-intensity and the combination of body-weight-training and electro-impulses, cardio and additional tools make you super sweaty, your heart-rate goes up, it boosts your metabolism and the total calories burned is greater than with continuous exercise due to the after-burning-effect.
6 BENEFITS OF THE EMS TRAINING BY MANDUU
1. It will increase your metabolism – you lose fat, not muscle
No offense, but I believe getting fit is the new skinny. The more muscles you have, the more and faster your body will burn calories – so work on these muscles.
2. No gym bag necessary – come as you are
Now, how convenient is that? Packing the gym bag comes always with extra effort. It’s super frustrating when I have to put all things together and it’s even more annoying when you arrive at the gym and you realize you forgot your ear-plugs or gloves or your towel etc… and it’s the worst when you forget to wash your smelly clothes 😀 So many possible excuses to not workout. I bet you experienced these situations as well. I was surprised when I asked what to bring with and the manduu team said: “nothing – we have everything here!” Yay, super easy and motivating!
3. You are more likely to stick to it
It’s up to 2 workouts with a personal trainer per week depending on your workout preferences with a total time investment of 1 hour. This improves efficiency and you have more quality time left.
4. It’s a joint friendly workout
I can’t even count how many times I or my boyfriend injured our knee, arm, shoulder or back during a normal workout. The manduu trainer asks in detail about injuries and focusses on joint friendly workouts which makes fitness even more enjoyable.
5. It’s guided by a specialized personal trainer
I spent countless hours of searching the Web for good training plans. Having a personal trainer is not only a huge help when it comes to proper exercise executions, it’s a stress free and convenient service your trainer is providing as he plans through every single workout according to your desired goals.
6. High efficiency with only 15 minutes invested time
The manduu EMS workout is the ideal workout for a busy schedule. No matter if you want to squeeze in a workout during your lunch break or to get in shape fast. I read an article about a research which said you can achieve more progress by working out 15 minutes of short interval-training than on the treadmill for an hour. (and to be honest, I think no one “loves” the treadmill or at least I haven’t met anyone who loves it 😆)
